It’s frightening how much your writing sounds like mine in this piece. Is it that you are writing about writing and about how you think, topics I’ve written about myself many times over the years? Or is it that without the philosophical stylings of much of your recent work, your cadences resemble mine?
What’s even stranger is that I also hear echoes of my mother’s writing in yours. I suppose it’s not so odd for family resemblances to emerge among writers from the same family. I’d just never noticed those resemblances so clearly before.

I’ve always thought that to speak French is to orgasm. You (and I) simply need to stop trying to maintain a conscious, linguistic thought. Then you will speak French.

Here at home sentiments are about the same. Apparently, Pat Quinn (IL’s Lt. Gov who will inevitably take over when Rod is ousted) is a decent fellow. I know he did some good government work early on (and work on citizen referenda, yay!). Rumor has it he’s a former track star too, so we know he must be top quality :).

I find it impossible to read “text” with “quotation marks” around so many “words.” I’m sure there’s a valid theoretical “reason” for “this” obsessive quotation-marking, but the voice “I” hear in my head sounds like this:
I find it impossible to read TEXT with QUOTATION MARKS around so many WORDS.
For me, all that YELLING drowns out the meaning.
